Twickenham

Twickenham really impressed me. Not only can they cater for groups of all sizes, including vast numbers but the level of service they offer is top class. Not an easy thing to do when they could have many large events running at once. But such is the scale of the operation here, not only can they offer these large spaces, but they really can deliver in a big way, as well as offering some one-off experiences with the pitch-side BBQs and England Changing Room dinners etc. And when you think that they’ve got the massive East Stand development coming very soon, they are going to have something for every type of event you can throw at them. But don’t just take my word for it – I’d recommend you have a site inspection. You’ll love it!

What can you say about this historic venue? Since it was first built in 1907 this world class stadium has developed into a fantastic conference venue. It literally has a space for every type and size of meeting, dinner, awards ceremony etc, that you can think of – and so much more than a typical stadium has to offer. That’s even before the forthcoming East Stand and its amazing function spaces that arrives in Autumn 2018. Talk about the wow factor!

Situated just 19 minutes by train from London’s Waterloo station, this amazing venue dominates the town of Twickenham – but in a really good way. It is worth pointing out that even from the outside it looks amazing and would definitely be a wow factor for your groups. Entrance into the stadium is via a couple of places depending on which stand you are using. The Live Room for instance, has its own private entrance from the concourse around the stadium and is ideal if you are bringing people in by coach or private car transfers.

Once inside the stadium it’s not long before you catch site of the pitch and the 82,000 seats that surround it in perfect symmetry – your groups will love this.

The conference and meeting spaces are located throughout each stand in the stadium, on multiple floors and all have a different look and feel – more of this later.

Parking: No problem at all – there is up to 2,000 spaces here, all totally free when attending a conference here.
Coach / Bus Pick-up Location at the venue: Yes, there’s plenty of space for coach drop off and no problem for multiple coaches to wait onsite too.
Accommodation:
Incorporated into the hotel is a 4* Marriott hotel, which has 156 rooms including 6 with pitch views. This enables smaller groups to be accommodated onsite. For larger groups the venue also works with other local hotels such as Heston Hyde and the Marriott at Heathrow.
Business centre: Yes, there is a business centre in the South Stand for any photocopying / printing
Wi-fi: Yes, free and worked really well throughout the stadium
Fitness gym: Yes, if you stay at the Marriott Hotel you get full use of the Virgin Active gym which is also part of the stadium
Spa & Swimming Pool: Yes, swimming pool and sauna within the Virgin Active club

Bars:
Twickenham has many bars throughout the property. Most of the large meeting rooms have their own built in bars but they are all very discreetly placed and can be hidden if required for your daytime conferences. When the East Stand opens in the Autumn it will even have its own pub to hire exclusively, called the Union Ale House – to give your groups a fabulous conference after show option.

Restaurants:
Catering is what Twickenham does unbelievably well, whether for small or large groups. On match days for instance, under the watchful eye of Executive Head Chef Thomas Rhodes the team deliver catering for 7,500 hospitality guests – wow!! So, you know you’re in safe hands with your groups.

Every meeting room has a large kitchen nearby and there are many options for your groups for daytime conferences – i.e. moving to a lobby area for a fork buffet or to another room completely for a sit down option.

A couple of amazing exclusive things that Twickenham offer is the option to have a BBQ pitch-side which has a massive wow factor and offers delegates an incredible experience. They can offer this for small or massive groups too – we are talking anything from 20 to over 500 pax.

Another super cool dining option is the opportunity to have your group dine in the England Changing Room, a fantastic experience for rugby fans – wow!

MEETING / CONFERENCE ROOMS
Currently offering 25 meeting rooms and 150 pitch facing private boxes, Twickenham will add an additional 9 creative event spaces to that number with the opening of the East Stand in Autumn 2018.

The sheer size and scale of some of the rooms is hard to get across, but we are talking small private pitch facing boxes for 10 people, right up to conference rooms for 1,200 pax – and everything in between. It would be quite difficult to not find the right option for your groups here. And that includes multiple breakout rooms, separate dining areas, etc.

I would urge you to go and visit them for a show round to understand what I mean. Laura, Ella and the team are amazing too.

Rose Suite
In a word it was massive! 1,200 pax in theatre and 560 pax in cabaret with the option to split it into two separate rooms, this amazing space would work really well for large conferences, dinners and award ceremonies.
