First impression: This lovely hotel is a fitting tribute to the football legend that is Bill Shankly. As you enter the hotel, it is full of original memorabilia and artefacts from both Shankly's time as Liverpool manager and also in his earlier career. But this hotel is so much more than just that - from the stylish reception desk right through to all the nice design touches, this hotel feel quality through and through.

Parking: The hotel boasts it's own underground parking for 120 cars and although this is a paid car park, if you are attending a conference you will receive a discounted rate. Also as the hotel is located right in the city centre there are lots of other car parks nearby including the Clayton Square Q Car Park which is literally across the road from the hotel.

Coach / Bus Pick-up Location at hotel: There is a designated space for coach pick-ups / drop-offs directly outside the hotel. Groups would wait in reception before walking to the coach directly outside the main hotel entrance. It is very straightforward.

Lobby: The large & stylish reception desk is very striking and it is the first thing you see as you enter the hotel. The reception staff are ultra friendly, with lots of personality - which I really like! The reception area is really spacious with lots of lounge seating and various Shankly memorabilia. There is also a thoughtful tribute to the victims of the Hillsborough disaster with 96 lit candles adorning one of the walls. A classy touch.

This could also double up as an excellent space for registration for your conference before they enter Baby Eden (ground floor) or the main Eden conference room on the 6th floor. Alternatively , a registration desk can be set up in the lift lobby on the 6th floor for conference in Eden as there is plenty of good space and natural light.

Bedrooms: The first thing that strikes you about the Shankly's bedrooms is the sheer size of them. They are very spacious and most of them include more than one double bed - very unusual for a UK hotel. The room I stayed in had two doubles and it was really funky! The bathroom was excellent too - very stylish and included a jacuzzi bath. In fact every bedroom in the hotel boast one, which is an excellent feature. It is aso worth pointing out that the views from the bedrooms, especially on the higher floors, is amazing - giving you views of the city that you've never seen before.

Number of bedrooms: 105 - including 12 x double rooms, 4 x accessible rooms, 24 x rooms that sleep four, 28 x studio rooms and the rest are larger rooms that sleep 6, 7 or 8 people. They also have hundreds of bedrooms at their sister properties throughout the city centre.

Number of floors: 6

Wi-fi: Yes, free wi-fi throughout the hotel and conference rooms, which is excellent in all areas.

Business Centre: No, although on request, the reception staff can do printing and photocopying etc

Fitness gym: No

Spa: No, but every bedroom boasts a whirlpool bath

Swimming Pool: No

RESTAURANTS & BARS: The Shankly boasts the fantastic Bastion Bar & Restaurant on the ground floor right next to the reception desk. This is a really nice place to spend a couple of hours. The restaurant is a really nice place to eat, with tables split into a mixture of free standing tables and booths, it would also be very easy to section off a semi private area for your group for lunch or a dinner etc. With regards to the food, it is REALLY good here. This is proven by the number of non-residents that come here every day for lunch and dinner, with their afternoon tea (served on mini pub benches) are a big hit.

There is also a private dining room just next to the restaurant called 'Baby Eden' which can serve up to 40 for a dinner, but more of that later.

The Shankly Hotel currently has two conference rooms, with another one currently being finished. Eden is the largest room, located on the top floor with various outside terraces to take advantage of and Baby Eden is located on the ground floor, which can be used as a smaller meeting room, breakout room or for private dining.

EDEN TERRACE:

Located next to the Eden conference room there are various terraces for use during your event, all boasting glorious outdoor views of the city. Perfect for drinks receptions, product launches etc.

LOADING / UNLOADING

There is a separate entrance 20 yards from the main hotel entrance where goods can be taken straight into Baby Eden or to Edn on the 6th floor, by using a staff lift - which isn't too large but will be fine for all but the largest stage or AV equipment.

Eden

The biggest of these rooms is 'Eden' and it really is the jewel in the crown of this hotel. Located on the 6th floor, you enter via a private lift and the first thing that hits you as you enter the room is the masses of natural light, the knockout views and the stylish decoration of the room. To put it simply, the views from this conference room are absolutely fantastic. Boasting floor to ceiling windows on 3 sides, you'll be blown away by how much wow factor this room has. Absolutely perfect for a product launch, awards evening, sales conference, Xmas party and much much more. It recently hosted a car launch when a car was lifted to the top of the hotel and placed on one of its fabulous terraces outside the Eden room.
