This brand-new 4-star hotel, only just opened in October 2019, challenges perceptions of Burnley and it certainly has a finesse that other hotels can only dream of.

Beginning from outside and working in, the location is pretty central, with Leeds Bradford Airport and Manchester Airport being only 50 minutes and just over an hour’s drive away respectively. Likewise, Burnley Manchester Road train station is less than a mile away with connections to Manchester Piccadilly or beyond. The hotel is ideally located just off Junction 11 M65 and although the motorway is but a stone’s throw away, the hotel is super quiet and peaceful.

From the moment you walk in, it is evident that from its inception this hotel has been designed to simply ooze quality and style, with only the best materials and products used. This top-quality finish is everywhere to be seen, giving the entire venue an incredibly alluring feel that will undoubtedly leave its guests enchanted. Little touches, like digital signage for meetings, in their very elegant but relaxed reception area, just hint at the understated quality that can be found throughout. It was also here, that we first encountered Rudolph, the hotel’s concierge who was a real character and is well known by many in Burnley. Charming and entertaining in equal measures he is a real asset to the hotel and gets you off to an immediate great start.Moving on, the 76 bedrooms are all gorgeous and abound in style. Amongst these 76 rooms, there are 6 suites, 23 twins and 47 doubles. What we noticed again however, were the little touches of luxury that combined to be something greater than their individual parts. We loved this! Many of these spacious rooms also have lovely views of the countryside and the hotel lake, whilst all have flat screen tv’s, and the excellent bathrooms come finished to an impeccably high standard.

As far as food goes, there are several restaurants in the resort to choose from. And with a fab stone bakery forming part of their £1million kitchens, you can be sure that whatever food you choose, it will be cooked to perfection. We dined in Wilfred’s Restaurant & Bar and found it to be superb. Having capacity for 117 covers and with very elegant décor and a European vibe, this is a fab place that feels very sophisticated. We had the steak and it was simply excellent!

Located to one side of the restaurant there is also Wilfred’s Al Fresco which is filled with natural daylight. Large glass doors open onto the terrace making it the perfect place to enjoy a drink on summer days or during those long summer nights.

Over on the 1st floor in The Woodland Spa (more of this later!), there is the adults only, Bertram’s Restaurant. Overlooking the pool and hills beyond, its huge windows flood the place with loads of natural light giving beautiful panoramic views. What better place to enjoy a meal after indulging in an incredible spa day?

So, on to the meeting rooms. And as you would expect – quality again! There are several boardrooms here, the Woodland, Lancaster, Pennine and Coppice. The first two can hold up to 12 people, whilst the Pennine can hold 8. All rooms boast the latest technology such as a fab Samsung Flip, which we absolutely loved, and have floor to ceiling windows. Very, very nice.

Want something bigger? No, problem. As the biggest room in the hotel, the Lakeside Suite has got you covered and is the jewel in the crown here. Able to hold up to 400 people this huge, contemporary space is perfect for conferences, awards, dinners or weddings. What’s more, there is a terrace that has gorgeous views of the Lake as well. So, dance floor – check, bar – check, natural light – check, changeable coloured lights – check! What a room! And at around £40 DDR, it’s well worth it too.

Finally, The Woodland Spa. Anything we say here, will never do it justice. This is hands down, one of the most luxuriant spas we have ever been to. This multi-award winning spa has been awarded Global Winner, Best Luxury Day Spa for five consecutive years, and we can understand why. With unmatched levels of luxury, this place is less is better described as a little piece of heaven. Highly trained therapists will give you their undivided attention through a range of treatments in fabulous surroundings. Once you are then thoroughly relaxed, it’s then time to move on into their incredible thermal suite and relax a little further with their indoor and outdoor hot tubs just being one of the many amazing experiences to indulge in. This place is unbelievable!

Also, on offer here are many other activities. From their stunning (and massive) luxury gym to squash courts, swimming pools and even a number of 5-a-side football pitches at the fab Soccer Burnley complex on the grounds. There are so many things to do here with your groups. Wow!

What can we say to sum up, other than then the fact that our initial excitement and anticipation was not misplaced? Well, from start to finish this this venue was simply stunning and exuded style and class throughout. So, whether you’re looking for a luxury family break, a romantic getaway or planning a superb event then Crow Wood Hotel and Spa is a perfect choice.

Indeed, this venue is undoubtedly one of the best hotels in Lancashire and we have already started recommending it to everyone we speak to, who’s looking for a conference hotel or a lovely getaway hotel in this region. Go see it now!
