RESPONSIBLE FOR:  C&E sales team
INTERNAL LIAISON: Operational team, LVP Key Account Team, LVP CRO, client team      
EXTERNAL LIAISON: Clients, Customers


  • To proactively and reactively drive conference, banqueting & event sales   in order to achieve the annual targets for the venue
  • To manage and maintain weekly/monthly sales reports and marketing plans
  • To actively participate in networking and other associated business activities such as showcases and client familiarisation trips
  • To be the face of the Somerset House in this market. To represent and create awareness of the venue and its capabilities to deliver a great conference, event and banqueting option
  • To manage all aspects of the unit’s C&E sales as well as group bookings for all the outlets
  • To create and implement an effective sales and marketing plan in line with agreed budgets
  • Create and implement strategic campaigns in line with the yearly events calendar
  • To manage and maintain social media channels, 3rd party websites and direct websites
  • To actively work as part of the local and national sales team and yield business opportunities to increase revenues and deliver the sales strategy
  • To ensure the highest standards of accurate and timely customer, staff and management information
  • To ensure all sales administration is accomplished effectively & accurately in order to provide a seamless handover to the operations team
  • To facilitate sales, client and contractual relationships ensuring that we are true partners in their business and ahead of our competition
  • To manage and motivate the Conference & Events team
  • To be an integral member of SH team

Develop strong working relationships with key members of the LVP sales team including CRO

Highlight team development needs with General manger and RVSM at earliest opportunity in order to ensure appropriate skill sets at all times.

Undertake training and development identified as required in reviews and appraisals for both self and team

Attend internal meetings as required and prepare all necessary information and follow up

Follow LRUK sales process in all customer meetings to ensure rapport established, relationships built and next actions agreed to

Ensure coordination team process enquiries & proposals, providing best value options to customers while maximising sales opportunities, within agreed response times to all web based, email and phone enquiries accurately and within brand guidelines

Responsible for the achievement of the C& E Sales Budget to achieve set sales targets and KPIs in all market segments reporting in line with time schedules any shortcomings with clear business reasons and remedial actions plans

Revenue targets and KPIs The Plan

Provide accurate and prompt reports as requested by Head of Events & RVSM i.e. KPI, Activity Report The Plan and ensure sales activity and actions are in place to support business needs.

Timely reporting

Responsibility for The Plan to initiate and complete and be the custodian of this information utilising its resource to support the business. Working document updated to expected time frame.

Effective strategy document delivered promptly with clear timelines and costs

Ensure team monitor results and ROI of all sales and marketing activities by tracking lead source on system for every booking and enquiry.

ROI report and S&M Plan

Host customer lunch, dinner or hospitality event for key customers/prospects each quarter

In line with The plan

Achieve target score for customer satisfaction surveys


As per client expectation

Hot booking responsibility to issue Prompt updates on key booking changes and booking troughs to allow for tactical support and pricing

Forecast & booking pace narrative to Head of Events RBDM, RVSM & GM

Participate in sales promotions where relevant and business require following sales strategy. Initiate sales activity to drive need periods. Ensure that the team always reflect the relevant business messages on all customer opportunities and we look our best in front of customers.

Inclusion in minimum 4 central promotions per annum

Participate in relevant familiarisation trips

KAM/RBDM feedback

Be aware of competitor activities & industry trends.

Quarterly competitor report & rate value matrix

Achieve personal goals and objectives identified in reviews and appraisals

Review results

Achieve appointment target of agreed proactive appointments per period and support and manage the teams individual KPI’s and activity.

GCSE including Maths & English


‘A’ level standard




At least 2 year’s experience within a hotel, venue or MICE agency

Minimum 3 years experience within hospitality/travel industry


Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Computer literate and confident in MS Excel; Word and Outlook

Venue knowledge



Knowledge of diary management systems





Demonstrates a flair for man management


Ability to inspire customer trust and confidence


Ability to deal both on the phone and in electronic communications effectively with clients and venues and to gain support of internal colleagues
