For our latest ‘Getting To Know’ feature, we caught up with Harry Elliott – Freelance Photographer with 10 years experience shooting many different areas. With a keen interest in automotive and event photography, Harry also works on Photography/Videography projects for various clients within the drinks industry.

Q: In a nutshell, tell us the about your services and the some of the industries you’ve freelanced for?
A: Myself and the team I regularly work with provide Professional Photography/Videography for Press/PR/Print/Web/Social Media/Advertising. I Provide still images for Automotive Events such as Goodwood Festival of Speed & Salon Prive, Corporate Motorsport Track days along with private Automotive events for Harwoods & HR Owen. We provide Photography/Videography for many brands in the drinks industry including Diageo. I also cover Trade Shows, Conferences, Awards, Black Tie Dinners for a wide range of clients such as Verve Clicquot Women’s Business Awards.

Q: How did you get started in the events industry?
A: I was a keen amateur photographer and walked into a local photographers gallery and asked to display some of my work. After showing a portfolio I was offered my first paid job shooting christmas parties at a local venue. This went well and I worked on more events such as Farnborough Air Show.

Q: Most memorable moment working as a freelancer?
A: With out a doubt my most memorable moment was my first year being commissioned by Goodwood for Festival of Speed. I worked so hard to buy my own ticket the year before, funded the weekend out of my own pocket, shot long hours & submitted my images. To be commissioned for one of my favourite events was a dream come true!

Q: Best location you’ve worked at?
A: There have been many great places I have been lucky enough to photograph. My favourite was Australia, photographing over Sydney Harbour from a helicopter and shooting from a speed boat for the Geography Bay Regatta, full speed with the waves splashing over you!

Q: If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself when you first started out in the events world?
A: I would have like to have more confidence in my ability, I wish I had been braver when approaching people instead of holding back. But we learn from our mistakes so pick your self up and move on quickly!
